LAKC Championship @ California Speedway - Fontana, CA

March 12-13, 2011 -

The LAKC championship is taking place at the California speedway track in Fontana, CA. The Saturday was dedicated to practice on the reverse layout and trying to find a good setup. I had injured my ribs in a practice session at Adams Motorsports two weeks before while testing a new Tillet seat, thus we skipped some session in the afternoon to make sure i'm fit for the race.

Sunday morning, Race day. I woke up with some very sore ribs. Any pressure on it would hurt. I knew it would be a touch day with all the G force producing at the fast high speed corner layout of CalSpeed. We missed first practice session due to the time we spent going through tech inspection.

Second practice went very fast and the track was still very cold and slippery. Some minor last minute adjustment brought us up for Qualification. I couldn't get a good lap time due to ribs pain in most corner and lack of confidence.

We started the Pre-Main event in the middle of the field. I made a good start gaining 4 positions after turn 1. I was slowly picking more positions in the first 3-4 laps but I went wide and had a big accident in the high speed right turn 2. My kart understeered a lot on the exit and my front left tire touched the wall which threw me straight in the barrier and got me ejected in the air. I land on my back 2 feets far from the kart. Huge bruises on my left legs, i broke the spark plug with my elbow and scratch my lower back with it when in the air. As i landed on my lower back i had an internal bruise and pain for over 2 weeks.

Full course caution the time to get my kart hauled and then direction the ambulance for me to get some bandage on my elbow and lower back to cover the bleeding area. Lots of damage on the kart, bent axle, exhaust, tie rode, steering column, spindles..
