IKF R7 / Cal-state series @ Adams Motorsports Park - Riverside, CA
April 2-3, 2011 -
This weekend brought us to the IKF Region 7 Cal-State series. Big event in perspective with a field in TAG class of over 30 drivers. Entries included some of the best drivers in California and close state.
Saturday was a controlled practice day. Lots of session was on the schedule and we had enough drive to tune the chassis and have a good pace. Sunday, race started early in the morning, the first practice session went without too much problem and the track condition was pretty similar to the day before.
Qualifying didn’t go well as i suffer of an engine failure right at the beginning and had no power at all. End up 26th and ready to start the Pre-Main race in the back of the field. Time to put on a spare engine prepared by P1 Engines.
Starting the 14 laps Pre-Main in the back but gaining couple positions after a crash in turn 1. With a good pace throughout the heat i pick up some positions by mostly avoiding all the crashes in front of me. I finished on a decent 15th position for start the Main Race of 26 laps !
Starting in the middle of the field on the inline line was a good thing and even with a big locked up on braking i got out of turn 1 without incident. I passed and got passed couple of time during the first half of the race but the last 10 laps went without any position change.
Those 26 laps felt very long after 2 days of racing. Finish on a 13th position for this IKF event at Adams Motorsport Park.
