Socal Spinters Round 9 Championship @ Adams Motorsports Park

September 24, 2011 -

This weekend took place the Round 9 of the SoCal sprinters championship under a cloudy weather.

Practice 1 was used for some minor chassis adjustment and engine tune-up.
Practice 2 showed a good pace and the kart was set for Qualify.

Qualify was a little tough as we only got 2 laps and I struggled to heat up the new tires. Good result as I got the second fastest time.

Starting off pole for the heat race would lead to a though start. Had a good run off and been able to hold off the second place on the outside line. I had a good pace throughout the race following closely the leader.

16 laps main event got me started again off pole. Start wasn’t as good as in the Heat but with some pushing help from opponent behind, I was able after some little contact to hold off my position. First few laps went well building a good gap with the rest of the field. Unfortunately after 10 laps the pace was a lot slower maybe due to high tire pressure. Lap 13 I got passed turned 4 but braking earlier lead me to have a good run in the back straight away and got my position back in the next corner with an inside pass. 2 laps to go and I’m fighting with the kart to keep some fast lap, the field closed the gap and were really pushing hard behind. Great battle and had to close the door on the inside on the last lap to keep my second position. Another great podium finish this weekend.

Podium:
1st - Kenton Koch (Tony Kart/Nash Engine)
2nd - Yannick Rolland (Avanti/P1 Engine)
3rd - Eric Heronime (Avanti)
